Face lifting (rhytidectomy) is a surgical method that removes sagging and wrinkles due to aging by stretching and hanging. However, in recent years, all attempts related to facial aging have started to be referred to as face rejuvenation.
As we age, the skin on the face sags, wrinkles form and various spots and irregularities occur due to age, sunlight, daily stress and other factors (smoking, alcohol, malnutrition). Before the surgery
If you smoke, quit permanently 2 weeks before the operation. If you are using medications, especially blood thinners (aspirin), chronic diseases (diabetes, etc.) will be questioned. The areas that are planned to be stretched with techniques such as the full face lift, the mini face lift or the medium face lift will be determined based on the complaints, especially by keeping sagging tissues in the foreground.
Operation
There are many different surgical methods such as full facelift, mini facelift, medium facelift.
The surgery is performed under general anesthesia or intravenous sedation (with sedatives) can be performed under local anesthesia. This type of surgery can take 3-5 hours depending on the technique and what will be done. Staying in the hospital overnight is more reliable in procedures performed under general anesthesia.
Additional procedures (nose, eyelid, brow lift and eyebrows) can be performed in the same session. Facelift surgery is not without scars. In the full facelift, the scars are hidden in the scalp in the area of the temples, in front of and behind the ear.
Fats in the lower jaw area can be removed. If you add an eyelid and forehead lift, additional scars remain on the eyelids and scalp on the forehead. Postoperative
The early period after surgery usually passes at ease.
There may be general swelling and bruising, numbness and tightness on the face. Since the facial nerves may be slightly affected by anesthesia during the operation, there may be slight asymmetries on the face. Silicone tubes called drains can be placed to prevent blood from accumulating in the tissue. The resistances are withdrawn within 2 days at the latest. The bandage is completely removed after 2-3 days.
On the 2nd postoperative day, you can be discharged with pain relievers, antibiotic tablets and antibiotic ointments. Hair can be washed during this time. The points are used to dissolve the type.
These disappear spontaneously within 3-5 days. A head bandage and cold swab are applied to the cheeks, leaving the eyes, nose and mouth open.
Things to know
When performed according to the surgical technique, it gives good results. From the second day after the operation, the patient can stand up and do homework. After a week, the patient can go back to work and put on makeup after the swelling has disappeared. It is recommended to avoid strenuous physical activity and excessive sunlight for 2 months and to protect yourself from external impacts. Depending on the person’s structure and environmental conditions, it sometimes lasts 5-10 years and sometimes for life.
